The Münzstraße in Berlin’s Mitte district is a rather short street, but it has a lot to offer. Just under 200 meters long, the street can be walked quickly – theoretically. However, there is quite a lot to discover. On both sides of the street there are small and large shops, trendy fashion stores, and boutiques. Therefore, this walk could take a little longer than expected.
Münzstraße was named in 1752 after the royal mint that was built here. It stretches between Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße and Neue Schönhauser Straße. At the western end, Münzstraße merges into Weinmeisterstraße, and at the eastern end, towards Alexanderplatz, it merges into Memhardstraße.

Addresses on Münzstraße
The most striking shop on Münzstraße is probably the flagship store of the Adidas fashion brand – seen in the center of the photo above. But with the Picknweight store, there is also a large and well-stocked second-hand store basically right next door.

The Litfaß Monument
Between Almstadtstraße and Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße, you can see a bronze advertising column – in the photo above, it is on the right. This is a monument in honor of Ernst Litfaß (Wikipedia), the inventor of the advertising column.
